Medtech – Smart closed-loop implantable neuromodulation

Spin-off of a French leading laboratory in stimulation medical devices, Oktoscience aims to revolutionize neuromodulation therapies by developing implantable patient-specific smart closed-loop neuromodulators. While the innovations are generic to neuromodulation, the first product will be a Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) implant for the treatment of epilepsy, which will solve 2 key pain points in current epilepsy’s VNS therapy: the high-complexity in stimulation setting and the lack of patient-specific adaptation of therapy resulting on sub-optimal clinical efficacy and therapy failure: half of the patients implanted today do not respond to therapy.
