HUID is a biotech start up that turns an abundant agricultural waste - onion skins - into better, functional materials for the packaging supply chain.  We have developed more efficient and greener extraction methods to isolate valuable polymers in onion skins that can form lightweight, compostable materials and help extend the shelf life of fresh food.  

Founded in 2021, HUID is based on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands.  HUID has provided its materials to premium lifestyle brands and is working towards pilot production with onion producers and large food producers across the UK and EU.
