Position Paper on EU Quantum Strategy
The future of European quantum ecosystem is at a turning point. Transitioning from top-notch research to global industrial leadership needs a clear, actionable strategy.
The European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC) has released today a document that represents the united voice of over 200 members: https://lnkd.in/dwXY4mBG. It serves as a practical roadmap aimed at making Europe’s quantum ambitions a reality. That's why we at QUBIZ.team were excited to contribute to and design this visual summary for the new European Quantum Industry Consortium (QuIC) Position Paper on the EU Quantum Strategy.
As a deep tech focused on quantum sensing and metrology, QUBIZ.team is especially encouraged by the sharp, detailed recommendations for our field. The paper calls for bold, specific actions to speed up the use of sensing technologies that can address real-world challenges today.
Key policy recommendations for Quantum Sensing include:
* Launching a dedicated European Quantum Sensing Flagship to fast-track sovereign, full-stack platforms, focusing on market-ready, room-temperature technologies.
* Establishing at least two European quantum sensing foundries and testbeds. This would provide shared access to fabrication and validation, a crucial step for startups and SMEs to grow effectively.
* Creating cross-sector "Industrial Upgrade" pilot programs. These initiatives would connect quantum innovators with leaders in automotive, aerospace, energy, and pharmaceuticals to tackle high-value challenges and show quick returns on investment.
* Mandating "system-ready" performance in all major EU-funded projects to ensure that new technologies are modular, portable, and robust enough for industrial settings.
Beyond sensing, the paper outlines a thorough strategy that covers everything from quantum computing and software to skills development. It proposes a €2 billion per year Quantum Sovereignty Growth Fund to lower investment risks.
Ultimately, this is about building the entire ecosystem—turning scientific excellence into industrial strength and ensuring Europe's technological independence.
We think this position paper is essential reading for anyone involved in European tech, policy, and investment. ℹ️ Read the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/duxwza_i
