SynFlora is a biotechnology startup specializing in the human skin microbiome to enhance skin health. The company has developed a platform that utilizes bioengineered microorganisms to deliver active compounds directly to the skin, aiming to treat conditions such as acne. This innovative approach allows for precise, long-term therapies that target specific areas of the skin.
In recognition of its groundbreaking work, SynFlora received the Celebrate Innovation Award from Cantabria Labs in September 2022. This award honors transformative solutions in healthcare, and SynFlora was acknowledged in the Acne category for its unique platform.
In February 2024, SynFlora presented its novel skin treatment technology at the 4 Years From Now (4YFN) event during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, highlighting its ongoing contributions to skincare innovation.
Most recently, in 2025, SynFlora was awarded the prestigious EIC Transition Grant, a European Union initiative to support groundbreaking technologies transitioning from the lab to the market. This grant will enable further development and commercialization of SynFlora's cutting-edge skin microbiome solutions.
