Stichting Amsterdam UMC

Amsterdam University Medical Center, commonly referred to as Amsterdam UMC, is a partnership of two teaching hospitals in Amsterdam. Established in 2018 through the administrative merger of the Academic Medical Center and the VU University Medical Center, it unified the University of Amsterdam’s teaching hospital (formerly Academic Medical Center) and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam’s teaching hospital (formerly VU University Medical Center). These are now called Amsterdam UMC, location AMC, and Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc, respectively. In 2025, Newsweek recognized Amsterdam UMC as the 31st best hospital globally and the top hospital in the Netherlands.
