NRG Bloom is Canadian firm setting up a Bitcoin mining operation in Nigeria. We will be repurposing flared gas to energy which we’ll use to power Bitcoin mining. 139BN m3 of gas is routinely flared each year, equating to 400M metric tonnes of CO2 and countless billions of dollars lost. Africa accounts for 20% of this. We plan to contribute towards the World Bank’s ending Zero Routine Flaring whilst helping energy companies to re-think what they consider "waste" energy. Bitcoin mining plays a part by helping to incentivise producers to develop their renewable energy sources.
