CHITELIX is an innovative company specialized in Up-Cycling seafood by-products into high value biopolymers such as Chitin and Chitosan as well as food and agricultural active substances.
In fact, seafood business produces a tremendous amount of by-products waste that is rich in essential elements. In Tunisia, it generates more than 5200 Tons of Crab waste per year which is causing several ecological problems. Our startup is a solution that contributes to the positive social and environnemental impact by producing eco-friendly products, reduces waste pollution and creates value with our circular- economy model.
CHITELIX started with lab scale testing in 2022 and had significant results that led to a pilot scale unit with advanced technology guaranteeing efficiency and the best environmental and social impact. CHITELIX got then the startup ACT label in TUNISIA and registered in april 2024
With 1.2 M Dollars raised we are now establishing our production unit in Bizerte and we plan to start our production by 2025

CHITELIX won the first prize in the innovation challenge organized by Syndicat des Pharmaciens d’Officine de Tunisie (SPOT) and Tunisie Telecom highlighted our dedication to pushing boundaries in the startup ecosystem. The recognition not only validated our efforts but also inspired us to continue innovating and addressing real-world challenges in the industry. It was a proud moment that showcased our potential and commitment to making a difference.

We have been honored to be a winner in the WeMed Award 2024 in the category A early stage entrepreneur.

CHITELIX has been selected as one of 22 Tunisian startups to be a part of an acceleration program dedicated to improve their technical and managerial capabilities. This program has been created as a partnership between the Tunisian Ministry of Communication Technologies, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Trade Agency.
