Axelera AI develops chips for AI inference on edge devices, powered by its patented digital in-memory computing architecture and RISC-V controlled dataflow technology. The company’s first product, Metis, which is already in the hands of paying customers, delivers higher performance and efficiency (TOPS per $ and watt) than its competitors. It was designed for running complex computer vision applications on edge devices.

While its current focus is on serving the edge market, Axelera is also developing chips for high-performance computing (HPC), a market that is orders of magnitude larger. The application-specific processor market is expected to reach >$50bn in 2025. Metis is in an early access program today, but the company is preparing for general availability by Q3 2024. It already has over 800 leads worth €150M in its pipeline

Founded in 2021 with experts from IBM, IMEC, Intel and leading research institutions across Europe, Axelera has grown to 150 people and 50+ PhDs. Axelera is headquartered in the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, NL, and its team is present in 15 countries.
