Logo for "Aluvial Environmental." The design features a stylized blue water droplet shape with a green swoosh forming the bottom of the droplet. Inside the droplet is a pattern resembling a circuit board in blue, symbolizing technology integration. Alongside the green swoosh are green dots connected by a line, suggesting data or environmental connectivity. Below the graphic, the word "ALUVIAL" is written in bold uppercase green letters, and beneath it, the word "ENVIROMENTAL" is written in spaced-out upperc

Aluvial Environmental – Company Summary (We-RISE)

Aluvial Environmental is a woman-founded environmental innovation firm dedicated to advancing water security through ethical, scalable, and science-based approaches to atmospheric water management. At the heart of our mission is the belief that rain enhancement should not only be technically effective—it must also be globally responsible, scientifically grounded, and equitably governed.

Founded by atmospheric scientist Marta Nelson, Aluvial builds on over 15 years of international experience in meteorology, remote sensing, field instrumentation, and climate technology integration. Marta’s previous roles include serving as a lead meteorologist and calibration engineer at Radiometrics Corporation, where she designed and deployed advanced microwave remote sensors worldwide. She later contributed as a strategic advisor to Cloud Seeding Technologies GmbH, developing region-specific cloud seeding frameworks and supporting implementation in high-stakes environments including the Middle East.

Aluvial was born from the need to bridge innovation with accountability in the field of weather modification. As extreme weather increases and freshwater resources grow scarcer, countries are seeking fast solutions—yet too often these solutions lack transparency, coordination, or environmental rigor. Aluvial’s purpose is to change that.

We do this through three primary innovations:

  1. A proprietary AI-powered atmospheric decision-support tool, developed by Marta and currently in confidential pre-release. This system integrates real-time meteorological data, cloud microphysics, and operational constraints to optimize when, where, and how seeding should occur. It is already generating early-stage simulations and feasibility estimates for partner regions and is designed for modular integration with drone- or balloon-based delivery platforms. Unlike off-the-shelf forecasting tools, this platform focuses on field operability, scientific validation, and post-mission transparency.
  2. The Rainfall Accord, a global nonprofit initiative currently being structured as a German e.V., provides ethical and strategic governance to the rapidly expanding field of atmospheric water management. It will offer certification protocols, intergovernmental cooperation platforms, and a Global Rainfall Fund—an institutional funding vehicle intended to support programs that meet rigorous scientific, environmental, and ethical standards. The Accord promotes alignment with WMO guidelines and is already attracting support from scientists, legal experts, and technology partners worldwide.
  3. Aluvial’s operational model, which uniquely combines scientific leadership, strategic development, and field-level adaptability. We design solutions that are climate-responsive, regionally tailored, and technically versatile—from flare chemistry and aerosol delivery to regulatory strategy and public trust communication. Our projects are built to evolve with emerging research and societal expectations, not just engineering.

Aluvial has been engaged in structuring pilot programs in the Middle East and is now preparing for European expansion. Our near-term goals include: (1) finalizing the legal framework and funding structure of The Rainfall Accord; (2) validating our AI-powered system with European partners; and (3) launching a demonstration project in a drought-prone EU region using innovative seeding platforms.

Our founder’s experience spans technical leadership, field deployments, strategic communications, and stakeholder integration. She brings fluency in English and Spanish, field resilience across five continents, and a proven capacity to operate at the intersection of science, innovation, and diplomacy.

By joining the We-RISE Greenhouse community, Aluvial Environmental seeks to contribute not just as a tech innovator, but as a values-based actor committed to inclusive, intelligent, and responsible stewardship of Earth’s atmosphere.
