ATOM H2 proposes a paradigm shift in energy storage, offering an innovative solution that bridges the gap between renewable energy generation, intermittent by nature, and the constant, demanding energy needs of modern society.

Our hybrid storage system combines solar panels and lithium batteries for daily use with our core technology: solid-state hydrogen storage, providing stable and long-duration energy backup.

Unlike conventional gas or liquid hydrogen storage, which requires high pressures or extreme temperatures, our solution operates safely at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. This makes it inherently secure, compact, and highly efficient. 

Through the use of metal hydrides—recyclable and abundant materials that chemically absorb and release hydrogen within their molecular structure—energy can be stored over long periods, with a lifespan exceeding 25 years. Moreover, these materials can be reactivated at the end of their cycle, recovering their initial properties and supporting a circular, low-waste, sustainable model.

On an industrial level, ATOM stands out for its innovation capacity. We employ 3D metal additive manufacturing in the fabrication of our storage tanks, currently under patent study. This enables the integration of an innovative heat exchanger, significantly improving the hydrogen absorption and release processes. This technical advantage enhances system performance, reduces operational times, and minimizes material and energy consumption.

Our solution is also modular and plug-and-play, allowing for easy stacking and fast deployment without the need for redesigns or engineering adjustments. This adaptability accelerates expansion and facilitates integration with existing infrastructures while drastically reducing operational costs.
 

Following an in-depth market analysis, ATOM H2 strategically selected the off-grid and critical telecommunications sector as its initial focus. Globally, over 5.2 million telecom towers are in operation, including 1.3 million off-grid sites and a significant number of critical infrastructure, serving emergency services, all of them still depending on diesel generators for primary or backup power— a polluting, non reliable and costly solution.
 

This context reveals a clear opportunity: to replace polluting diesel generators with a clean, silent, and autonomous alternative.
 

Our hypothesis was quickly validated by leading industry players. Cellnex, Europe’s largest telecom tower operator with over 100,000 sites, invested €15K in a pilot project under real operating conditions. 

In parallel, Estabanell, a Catalan energy utility, supported a second test valued at €39K.

These collaborations confirmed the technical, economic, and environmental performance of our solution, positioning us at TRL 7, a validated system demonstrated in operational environments.

In terms of business model, ATOM H2 embraces economic inclusivity through a dual approach: direct system sales and an innovative Energy Storage as a Service (ESaaS) model, allowing clients to pay only for the hydrogen they consume, without large upfront investments. This flexible model democratizes access to our technology, making it viable for both small and large enterprises, and accelerating the transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy model.

Initially focused on telecom, our solution is scalable across sectors like healthcare, data centers, ports, and agriculture—broadening its long-term impact and cross-sectoral relevance.

Environmentally, our solution can prevent up to 376,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually in the telecom sector alone, replacing diesel generators with a zero-emission system whose only byproduct is water.

It aligns with the United Nations SDG, particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), by offering a clean, autonomous and reliable energy alternative, and SDG 13 (Climate Action), by actively contributing to the decarbonization of critical industrial activity.

Digitally, our system integrates intelligent energy management with remote monitoring, traceability, and predictive maintenance, optimizing hydrogen usage in real time and ensuring operational continuity.

Socially, our vision is to democratize access to safe, constant, and clean energy in remote territories and emergency contexts, reducing energy vulnerability and promoting territorial inclusion. This technology is especially relevant for humanitarian applications, rural communities, and regions beyond the reach of the power grid.
