New Naval is a leading European manufacturer of oil spill response and marine environment protection equipment since 1978 with a team consisting of Marine Protection experts with a vast background.

With participation in the CLAIM research program, coordinated by H.C.M.R., New Naval developed the innovative, unparalleled marine litter collection system CLEAN (CLAIM’s Litter Entrapping Autonomous Network) TRASH (Tactical Recovery Accumulation System Hellas), hence the name CLEAN TRASH. The project was funded by EU's Horizon2020 program with grant No. 774586. The highly-efficient, advanced collection system manages, collects and contains litter and macroplastics at river mouths before entering into the open sea and affecting the marine ecosystem. The scale model was built at our facility in Lavrio in late 2018 and the prototype was deployed and tested at the river mouth of the Kifissos river in Athens, Greece in 2019. The effectiveness and capabilities of the system passed all quality assurance testing, confirming that the system is ready to be installed in active, long-term operational environments. It can continuously accumulate and remove marine litter from river mouths and can be a commercial product to be used by public, private sector and all stakeholders related to marine litter pollution and envrironmental protection. Able to be built to meet various requirements and additions for rivers and marine environments globally, the system has high scalability. TRL 9.
