GMZ Enerji is a deep-tech company specializing in the development and commercialization of advanced nanofiber-based ion exchange membranes and related clean energy systems. Founded in 2021 and located in a Turkish Technology Development Zone (technopark), the company is committed to accelerating the global transition to sustainable, hydrogen-based energy solutions through material innovation and integrated system design.

At the core of GMZ Enerji’s technology portfolio are proton and anion exchange membranes fabricated via electrospinning, a scalable and versatile nanofiber production method. These membranes offer superior performance in terms of ion conductivity, mechanical strength, chemical stability, and customizable architecture, making them ideal for demanding applications such as proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), water electrolyzers, flow batteries, wastewater treatment systems, and carbon capture technologies.

The company's flagship membrane product line, GMZ® Ion Exchange Membranes, has reached TRL 9 and is currently being evaluated and co-developed with international partners for market deployment. To demonstrate end-use performance, GMZ Enerji is also developing complete electrolyzer and fuel cell systems, integrating their proprietary membranes with innovative stack designs and balance-of-plant components.

In addition to membrane production, GMZ Enerji manufactures customized electrospinning equipment and components for R&D and pilot-scale use, including multi-needle spinnerets, rotary collectors, and feed systems—serving both internal development needs and external academic and industrial clients.

As of 2025, GMZ Enerji employs a multidisciplinary team of researchers and engineers, with a strong female leadership presence. The company has successfully completed multiple TÜBİTAK-supported R&D projects, received international acceleration support (e.g., EmpoWomen and Women TechEU), and secured both national and EU-level grant funding exceeding €225,000. The company’s growth strategy focuses on international expansion, with active collaborations in Europe and the Gulf region.

GMZ Enerji's technology development roadmap is aligned with global sustainability targets such as the European Green Deal, Fit for 55, and the Hydrogen Strategy for a Climate-Neutral Europe. Its upcoming initiatives include waste-to-hydrogen electrolyzer systems using textile wastewater, high-efficiency reversible fuel cells, and participation in Horizon Europe and Innovation Fund projects.

The company’s long-term vision includes the construction of a green-certified production facility, international IP commercialization, and becoming a leading supplier of next-generation membrane technologies for the hydrogen economy.
