More than 1.2 billion people lack access to electricity and in Sub-Saharan Africa, almost 90% of people own a phone but only 30% of them can charge it at home. That means that more than half of the population owns a phone but cannot charge it. That is a huge brake to economic development as a phone is access to information, banking, education and communication. By providing a phone charging station in a community whether rural or urban areas, Charge Ko gives the fundamental right of access to the digital ecosystem and its benefits. With this, a community's quality of life and economic status is improved.

About Charge Ko for Electric Vehicles

Charge Ko Technologies is the first EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) company in East Africa. Born out of necessity to make owning and operating electric vehicles(EVs) in Africa more convenient and affordable, we are building a network of charging solutions for EVs in Uganda.
We are starting with electric motorcycle battery swapping and charging stations to serve the fast-growing number of urban commuters, ride-sharing and logistics companies using motorcycles. There are at least 300,000 motorcycles in Kampala City alone which release more than 7.5 million tons of carbon annually.
By setting up charging infrastructure, we can drive electric motorcycle adoption and reduce this pollution by 50% before 2025.
