The Averroès scheme is a pioneer investor in the African private equity market contributing to sustainable and inclusive growth on the African continent.
Since 2003, Bpifrance has launched and managed three funds of funds, Averroès Finance (2003), Averroès Finance II (2009), Averroès Finance III (2015) and is currently raising Averroès Africa, to support the development of African start-ups and SMEs across all key sectors linked to the emerging African middle class, through equity investments in regional, multi-country and pan-African private equity funds.
As of today, the Averroès scheme has channeled some €1.2bn in about 20 private equity funds and over 150 companies in 40 African countries.
