Company History

Chekkit Technologies Ltd., founded in late 2018 in Lagos, Nigeria, began its journey with a mission to save lives by eradicating counterfeit drugs and enhance transparency in supply chains. Chekkit has grown into a revolutionary force in food and drug product traceability across emerging markets. Initially focused on healthcare, the company has expanded its solutions across the pharmaceutical, consumer goods, and agricultural sectors, addressing a $300 billion loss to counterfeiting in Africa.

Notable milestones include achieving GS1 traceability certification (the first in Nigeria), securing strategic partnerships with FTSE500 such as SAP, IFAD, and the global health organisations like  Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, UNICEF etc, and raising $1 million in equity, debt, and grant funding. Chekkit currently manages over 250 million product serial barcodes for 100+ brands, including FTSE 500 companies like Merck KGaA, Flour Mills of Nigeria, and SC Johnson. The platform records over 5,000 daily product authentications, amounting to 2 million+ consumer lives protected per year . Chekkit services may be leveraged in Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda, and Saudi Arabia The company aims to expand across the African and the Middle-East markets as the #1 product traceability and distribution tracking digital infrastructure in the region.

  1. Product Traceability Platform: Providing end-to-end supply chain visibility using GS1-compliant solutions, digital twin AI capabilities, and web applications for offline scanning. This full solution package embodies Chekkit’s Chektrace and ChekIntel solution
  2. Consumer Engagement: The ChekIntel platform enables direct brand-to-consumer connections through product authentication and loyalty rewards. This service is also delivered via our sticker labels which are designed in line with the NAFDAC Mobile Authentication Solution (MAS) labels for product anti-counterfeiting and brand protection.
  3. Track-and-Trace Implementation: Offering ChekTrace Software as a Service (SaaS) to implement serialisation, aggregation, and regulatory compliance with hardware or ERP integration. This Platform integrates as the control tower of our Serialisation & Aggregation Machine.
  4. Data Analytics: Leveraging AI and machine learning to deliver actionable insights on supply chain performance, predict process bottlenecks, and enhance regulatory compliance.

Mode of Sales / Road to Market

Chekkit employs a multi-channel, education-based approach to the market, ensuring comprehensive coverage:

  1. Direct Sales: Engaging CEOs, IT Managers, and Supply Chain/Process Managers in pharmaceuticals, FMCG, and agro-industries through educational content, webinars, and personalised outreach.
  2. Subscription Models: Offering ChekTrace as a flexible SaaS platform for access to the dashboard with a pay-as-you-go model.
  3. Leasing Programs: Providing serialisation and aggregation machines on a rental basis to reduce upfront and maintenance costs for customers.
  4. Usage Fees: This makes up our primary revenue source and its extremely scalable with customers use of our solutions. This is a fee charged for every unit of serial code, sticker label or machine consumable commissioned/sold/consumed by the client respectively.
  5. Partnerships: Collaborating with banks to offer financing for manufacturers adopting traceability solutions or machine rental opportunity. Collaboration with Amazon to sell serialisation to brands selling on e-commerce stores. Collaboration with Enterprise Resource Planning platforms and GS1 networks for direct integration with production lines and electronic product information of brands to ease the implementation of Chekkit solutions
  6. Awareness Campaigns: Supporting Consumer brands with marketing intelligence  solution (ChekIntel) to drive adoption through consumer-focused loyalty and reward programs.

David Ehigiator – Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Board Member

David leads the development of Chekkit’s technical infrastructure. With a B.Sc. in Computer Science and an MBA. brings over 12 years of experience in enterprise software.
