Founded in 2020, Wowzi is a platform that connects global brands, businesses, and organizations to communities of creators and influencers, unleashing the power of creator marketing and producing a win-win situation for businesses and content creators alike. Within the African creator economy, businesses often struggle to connect with diverse customer bases, and creators face challenges managing content and brand engagements. Wowzi's platform bridges this gap through a centralized marketplace. At a high level, Wowzi enables advertisers to identify and collaborate with a wide range of content creators and communities of their exact desired profile through a single platform. For content creators, Wowzi enables individuals from nano influencers to celebrity creators to leverage their social capital and create additional income streams and job opportunities. Beyond the high-level mechanism, Wowzi’s platform also equips both sets of stakeholders with a variety of management tools that allow them to efficiently manage their platforms including AI-powered creator discovery, smart workflows, automated payments and compliance, and more.

Today, Wowzi has facilitated 500K+ job opportunities through 15K+ campaigns, giving its 164+ advertising clients direct access to its 150K+ registered influencers across 25 African countries. Wowzi has enabled campaigns for notable blue-chip brands like Coca-Cola, Netflix, P&G, Google, and more. The majority of the company’s business model today centres around applying a take rate to the campaign payouts (hereon referred to as TPV or total payment volume) made by advertisers on its platform. Having said this, 2023 marks the implementation of various monetization levers such as a SaaS-style subscription for premium advertiser features (activated in Q3 2023) and a creator-side take rate on earnings for premium creator features (to be activated in late Q4 2023). From a growth perspective, Wowzi has grown its revenue at a CAGR of 258% between 2020-2022, finishing 2022 with $2.5M in TPV and $501K in revenue and this year is pegged to conclude at $4.8M in TPV and $1M in revenue and most importantly cross the profitability mark by the turn of the year.
