Voyager Medical Research Ltd (VMR)

VMR is an Israeli company, founded late 2015 focusing on the prevention of complex post-surgical complications. Having passed a Proof-of-Concept phase on a rat model, our flag-ship product "Voyager Surgical Suture" ("VSS") looks promising with the potential of reducing the prevalence of Post Operative Ventral Hernia by as much as 50%. In the US this decrease will save the lives of 17,000 patients annually and save the public healthcare system an estimated $22.7B per year. The product is intended for use in every abdominal wall surgery, including minimally invasive surgery, a market worth $1.3B per year. The company was awarded with $120K from the Chief Israeli Scientist under the NOFAR program and a Seal of Excellence from the European Commission.

The product is an absorbable surgical suture with a tensile strength of 5-6 months and that fully absorbes after around 13 months, the product will be priced at the level of the market gold standard.

VMR is managed by Ohad Lavi, Ohad has over 18 years' of experience in the manufacturing, regulatory, sales and marketing of surgical sutures. Prof. Dani Cohn is the head of Casali institute for applied chemistry at the Hebrew University, a worldwide renowned scientist in the field of bio-compatible polymers. Prof Halevi Ariel is one of the leading intestinal surgeons in Israel, Halevi managed the Surgical division at a large public hospital for the past 30 years.
