Uncover is revolutionising beauty, wellness, and self-care on the African continent, the fastest growing but most underserved beauty market in the world. According to McKinsey, the African beauty market is growing 2x the world's average but still, consumers are faced with poor product offering (think global imports with little consumer focus or low quality imports/counterfeit products). There is very few solutions that target the unique skincare needs of women of colour on the African continent in terms of products and information.

Uncover is leveraging a digital platform and community, as well as our own branded products to revolutionise the self-care experience on the continent. We have launched a line of skincare products made specifically for women of colour, developed with our in-house formula scientists (both women of colour with 20+ years of experience) as well as focus group tested on women on the African continent.

We sell our product both through top retailers and direct to consumer through our digital platform. Our digital platform is much more than an e-commere platform - it aims to support women with their number one pain point (outside of products) - knowledge. We've built a suite of digital tools that aids product discovery through personalisation - we have an in built skin quiz that can recommend a personalised routine as well as offering tele skin consultations. We have a full integrated WhatsApp commerce solution where consumer can chat live with an expert, add to cart, and pay all within Whatsapp.

Finally we leverage user-generate content creators to create fun, digestible, relatable and educational content that drives healthier behaviour for women and builds community (which in turn drives superior loyalty, brand love, and retention). These content creators earn commission through affiliate links and can track their earnings through a dashboard. This has gone very well for us with a loyal digital audience of 170K women, growing rapidly. 

Our business revenue has grown 8x y/y and 45x in 2 years. We recently broke the $1m ARR and broke even on a monthly basis. The appeal for what we are building is global - with women of color across the world messaging us for our product.
