About your organization / profile
Funded by two experienced entrepreneurs and technologists, (Michel Gien, CEO and Christian Jacquemot, CTO), Twinlife develops "twinme - private messenger", a next generation secure instant messaging and voice/video call service protecting #PrivacybyDesign.
What sets twinme apart from other alternatives is that it does not rely on any form of personal identification. It operates on an anonymous “relations” architecture, allowing users to establish connections between instances of the application on different devices. This means that twinme doesn’t require sign-up: no public user-ID, no phone number, no email, no personal information whatsoever. Each relation is unique to a specific correspondent and cannot be transferred to, or used by anyone else. You can remove a relation with just one click, making yourself unreachable to that individual. twinme thus protects you from the risks of unexpected personal public exposure, unsolicited calls, harassment, or spam.
Moreover, twinme ensures that exchanges remain completely private and untraceable. By utilizing direct, encrypted, real-time connections between devices through a peer-to-peer approach, twinme bypasses the need for data transit servers. This means that no external entity can access the exchanged contents outside of the communicating devices. The privacy and security of your conversations are maintained without leaving any trace, even in encrypted form, in the cloud. As another consequence, the infrastructure required to operate the service is super light and energy efficient.
With twinme, you have the freedom to interact online just as you would in real life, with complete control over your digital communications.
twinme has been licensed to the Skyrock group under the Skred brand. twinme and Skred currently represent over 17 million activation worldwide and close to 1 million monthly active users, essentially by word of mouth and with a growing retention rate and usage level.
twinme and Skred both provide a "freemium" business model (B2C) with enhanced privacy protection and communications features, and a professional subscription-based offering (B2B2C).
Twinlife was initially supported by IT-Translation (now part of ELAIA), a digital technology start-ups seed fund, Bpifrance, and the CentraleSupelec Incubator. It joined the Skyrock group in January 2022.
