An increasing numbers of African diaspora around the world areregularly sending money back home to their families: In 2019, they sent 95 billion USD, of which 13 billion dedicated to health expenses.However, this money does not convert into care, due to:
- Low insurance penetration:less than 1% in sub-saharan Africa
- Lack of specialist doctors
- Boom of chronic diseases: diabetes and hypertension increased 88% and 69% over the last 15 years
