SPOWDI AB is a Swedish product development company that has invented the most energy efficient water distribution system for small hold farming. It can run with zero emissions on solar power only.

Using less than 70 watts, the water pump can distribute up to 25,000 liters/day. 

The high efficiency and low weight makes the solar pump system mobile and more cost efficient than any other diesel or grid connected pump on the market today. The SPOWDI system can replace existing diesel and grid connected pumps on cost savings alone, in addition to its environmental benefits. 

The initial target group is the 500 million, one-acre farmers in the world, who together produce some 70% of world’s food. To date, most of these farmers have not had the possibility of irrigation, due to either high costs for diesel and electricity or not being connected to the grid.

SPOWDI stand-alone solar powered water pumps now offers the mobility required to also allow the 500 million one-acre farmers to benefit from crop irrigation.
