Intelligent SaaS platform for biometric school attendance with a real-time parental notification system and SMS alerts.
Background
• An average of 30 hours per year are lost to class attendance.
• Education is a fundamental human right. Yet, millions of children and adults are still deprived of education. Linda Klaassen, UNESCO1
• The lack of automated monitoring is a major cause of declining student attendance rates.
• Parents have few automated tools to monitor their child's performance or shortcomings in real time.
• Exam fraud is no longer possible with Quitus's digital school ID.
Solution
The key to combating school dropout and student exclusion is to cultivate close collaboration between schools and families:
Primary school dropout rate 60%, secondary school dropout rate 42%, and higher education dropout rate 28%
To address this issue, Quitus SAS2 developed a biometric student attendance solution combined with a real-time notification system for parents of their child's arrival and departure times at the school.
This solution, patented by the OAPI3 (French Agency for the Protection of Children and Young Persons) has been approved by the Ministry of National Education and the Personal Data Protection Commission. It contributes to reducing the early school dropout rate by allowing parents to monitor their children's attendance.
How does it work?
A registration form is sent to the students' parents or guardians for signature and acceptance of the following general terms and conditions of use:
• Students are registered and assigned an ID (enrollment)
• Biometric clocking and unclocking is done by fingerprint (middle and high school students) or RFID card (primary school students, in accordance with the CDP recommendations).
• After the student clocks in, a text message is sent to the parent in real time to notify them of their child's arrival time at school.
• Upon arrival, the student clocks out using the same system. An SMS is sent to the parent in real time to notify them of their child's departure time from school.
• At the end of the day, parents whose children are absent receive a notification text message.
• The Quitus (Acknowledgement) can also be used for national exam identification to combat fraud with the digital school identity. Other services are provided by the platform:
• Parent notification by text message
• Information about school life
• Tuition payment reminders for private schools
• Reminders about performance or shortcomings in certain subjects using artificial intelligence.

Test Report
We conducted a test with two first-year classes at the Collège Sacré-Coeur in May 2024 and the first half of June 2024.
The system installed at the prefect's office was well received by parents, the school administration, and students.
We held change management sessions with students to demonstrate the project's motivations (Change Management).
The positive feedback from participants at the launch ceremony held on May 31, 2024, with SIMEN representing the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEN) in the amphitheater of the Sacred Heart College, confirms the project's merits.
The Ministry of National Education, through its Information Systems Manager (SIMEN), reiterated its commitment to supporting the project and honored us with its presence at the launch, which was followed by a technical and financial offer.
To date, we have enrolled more than 3,000 students at the College Sacré Coeur, with five other schools currently in the process of being rolled out.
