PolyPea aims to minimise the environmental impact of the plastics market by converting waste and co-products from the agri-food industry into innovative polymers that meet a real market need.
Circularity is at the heart of our project, we collect pea starch (low value by-product from our family agri-food business) that we transform into biobased, biodegradable and water-soluble film. This film can be used in multiple applications for which we use fossil-based plastics today:
- Packaging for dishwasher tablets and laundry pods
- Agricultural seed coating
- Edible packaging and coatings
- etc.
Working hand-in-hand with our future clients, universities and industrial partners, we make sure we develop a product that meets market requirements.
Two patents have been filed to protect our technology and we are looking for funds in order to grow towards a pilot-scale production.
