About your organization / profile
Passive Eye is a private limited company incorporated in the United Kingdom and is a true, entrepreneurial effort formed to develop a way to make portable battery-powered tracking devices to be self-powered and self-sustaining. Because the cost to send personnel out into the field to recharge batteries is prohibitive, we felt that there would be a major commercial opportunity if the need to manually recharge batteries could be eliminated.
Passive Eye assembled a team of PhD electronic and electrical engineers and over a number of years (and 6 iterations of the PCB design), we developed a portable asset monitoring tag that incorporates our patented self-sustaining energy harvesting and power management technology, that completely eliminates the need to manually recharge the batteries.
Our tags provide users with an asset’s location, utilisation and efficiency information. If mounted on land or marine-based asset that shouldn't move, they function as alarms to thwart theft and aid asset recovery. Shock and/or tilt loads are monitored and if sufficient to cause damage, we compile a 'damage event' report with the time, date and location. Cargo passes through many hands and the damage event reports would help shippers to determine responsibility, they could mitigate their commercial liability and possibly lower their insurance costs, all without ever having to manually recharge or replace batteries.
