About your organization / profile

The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF) is a leading pan-African arts organisation committed to making a positive change in the African music sector, focusing primarily on improving the lives of upcoming music creators and industry professionals.

The MIAF envisages an equitable and thriving African music ecosystem driven by growth and innovation, where practitioners are well-informed, connected, and fully leveraging opportunities to learn, exchange, collaborate, develop and promote their careers on a global scale.

The MIAF’ approach combines environmental sustainability with social empowerment, and operates as a collaborative platform with a growing network of active music professionals across the African continent.
Since 2013, we have been consistently designing and implementing complementary developmental projects, particularly in the following areas:

Access to finance and markets

We create and share opportunities for all music players in Africa.

Research and information

We conduct and share reliable research data and content that cover the entire African music ecosystem.

Sector professionalisation

We strive to improve standards in music and related industries.

Capacity building

Our projects build capacity and uplift individuals and organisations.

Advocacy

We conduct advocacy aimed at protecting the interests of musicians through lobbying and awareness campaigns in the area of intellectual property.

Women empowerment

We work actively to offset gender disparity in the African music industry.

Inclusive platforms

We offer truly pan-African platforms to exchange ideas, discover new talent and create business connections.

Sector promotion and export

We strive to improve the distribution, accessibility and viability of African musical works.
In 2025, the MIAF is launching LOUDER, the first pan-African platform offering financing to independent African music creators based on future royalty income. The platform also provides cutting-edge music distribution services, and a digital academy that equips creators with new skills to master the business of music and maximise their revenues.
