About your organization / profile
We create digitised education content localised for Africa. Our focus is on business education content to serve companies, business schools, entrepreneurs, development finance institutions, professionals, and new entrants into the business workplace.
We distribute our content via our LMS and mobile applications.
For education to be effective and impactful, it needs to be contextualised and localised. Teaching a 12 year old student in New York economics or mathematics, is very different to teaching a 12 year old in a rural village called Chivi, in Zimbabwe. Economic and mathematical principles may be the same, but the manner in which the subject matter is delivered, explained, exemplified, brought to life, and illustrated is very different. We are of the view that as online learning platforms integrate AI into their offerings, much of the data collected will be based on their primary markets in North America and Europe. This will inherently result in a bias towards these geographies, and exacerbate inequalities with African learners.
A large proportion of digital learning solutions used on the African continent source their technology and catalogues from these same North American and European markets. Even if these North American and European digital learning companies subsequently offer their solutions in African markets, the AI in these offerings will be biased, inadequately contextualised and localised, not resonant, wrong in areas, and will significantly compromise their impact. The consequence of this development will be to exacerbate the educational gaps between African and developed economies and entrench global inequality.
Our existing online learning platform boasts the most comprehensive and dynamic catalogue of online learning content focused on commerce, business, life skills, and agriculture, specifically for the African continent. Our goal is to integrate into this offering complementary AI capabilities.
Through our ‘cradle to grave strategy’ we will build additional digital learning content and solutions, and integrate this Africa focused AI education capability across our suite of offerings, effectively building and integrating AI into an individual’s entire learning journey from nursery school, to tertiary and adult learning.
