In-process measurement of rheology (flow properties of liquids) - enables improved process control, and reduced manufacturing cost (less re-work, less waste, stable quality).
Relevant in manufacturing of "thick" liquids - paints, lotions, detergents, soaps/shampoos and sauces as well as in internal processing using coatings (electronics, batteries, catalysts).
"Thick liquids" should be thick in the right way - to perform right, to be stable and to satisfy consumer expectations. Today only viscosity can be measured in-process - but thick liquids are normally more complex and are not defined by viscosity alone. They are measured after-the-fact in the QC lab, leading to re-work and waste and unstable supply chain.
RheoStream is the first instrument to measure complex rheology in the process.
This enables the manufacturer to intervene in the process and keep it on track, saving re-work, reducing waste and saving resources, while gaining new insights.
Most manufacturing companies are today looking for deeper process insights to fuel their Industrie 4.0 initiatives - RheoStream will provide such data.
RheoStream measures differential pressure as the liquid is pushed through 2 optimized measuring cells at precisely controlled flow rates. Proprietary algorithms convert this to the rheology properties that the industry are looking for: shear thinning, yield stress and viscoelasticity.
The first generation product has obtained CE-compliance.
