CLHYNN

CLHYNN is a start-up resulting from research carried out by the French public sector (CNRS). It offers a third way of green electrification, making it possible to decarbonise mobility (land-air-sea) and stationary energy in a sustainable way. A real deeptech game changer, the technology combines the best of the electric battery and hydrogen, without their disadvantages.

A 2-in-1 technology, it combines a fuel cell that is compact, affordable and virtuous (PFAS-free, with a platinum-free version) which provides the power, with an in-situ hydrogen source in the form of a solid, safe, inert cartridge, independent of any infrastructure, which provides the energy. The result is a solution that is 4 times more compact and lighter than an equivalent lithium-ion battery, and can be used anywhere, anytime.

Currently covering a power range from 1 to 10kW for scooters/small boats/drones/generators, the technology is set to develop towards higher power for medium and then heavy mobility (100kW).
 

The business model is based on the sale of fuelcells to OEMs/integrators, and the sale to the mass market of returnable cartridges via distributors such as petrol stations/big-box retailers/ports/garages, which are then collected after use to be emptied of their contents (which have become a fertiliser and are therefore perfectly compostable and valued) and refilled before being put back into circulation.

After 3 years and a first fundraising in 2023, CLHYNN can now count on 17 talents (PhDs, engineers and technicians) and has established a strong strategy of developing at the same time product/industrial process and business incl. overseas (Europe, USA, Japan), so as to hit the market as soon as possible.

The next step is now an important fundraising stage of 10M€ to establish a first factory to satisfy the first customer needs for fuelcells and cartridges, and develop partnership for the distribution and collection/valuation of the cartridges.
