Chitomed is a company developing and implementing cutting-edge solutions for medicine based on the biopolymer chitosan.

The company is commercializing chitosan hydrogel dispersed with hydroxyapatite as a bone substitute for the treatment of bone loss in surgery, such as orthopedic or dental procedures (including the use of dental implants).
It will be administered by syringe into the bone (in the case of hand bones in surgical settings, in the case of long bone heads such as hip bones during surgery).
The hydrogel will have the property expected by doctors - up to the temperature of the human body it is in liquid form, while after application to the human body it “hardens” to the form of a “gelatinous jelly” within tens of seconds. This is a very convenient form of the implant, because, thanks to its liquid form, it will fill any space, and after a short time it will harden at the site of implantation, without later undergoing significant displacement.
The components of the hydrogel have approvals for such medical applications:
- Hydroxyapatite - is a component of our bones - and 70-80% of it. 
- Chitosan - is a biopolymer derived from natural raw materials (chitin). It creates conditions for tissue regeneration at the application site and has scientifically proven broad antimicrobial activity, which significantly reduces the risk of inflammation - the most common complication in implant surgery. 
Chitomed's goal. - To become a key manufacturer of sponge bone replacement implants (“bone in liquid”) based on biodegradable polymers and to be a forerunner in the effective prevention of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.
