BEYONDER is a Norwegian highly innovative tech. company that will produce sustainable energy storage solutions targeting emerging markets in renewables, grid stabilization, charging stations and heavy-duty transportation. Beyonder has developed a hybrid energy-storage technology – Li-ion capacitor (LiC) - incorporating the benefits of lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) and supercapacitors (SCs). Our LiC is based on own developed Super Activated Carbon cathode and Silicon-based anode with superior properties:

• Sustainability: we use sawdust and silicon from sand in our cells instead of cobalt and nickel and we have lower energy consumption for our production
• Lower total cost of ownership and lower cost per kWh/cycle than LiBs and SCs
• Higher energy density compared to SCs and higher power density than LiBs, reducing the cost the cells as well as the weight/size, major factors in electric mobility applications
• Longer lifetime and high number of cycles, key differentiator in applications that require many charging/discharging cycles (grid stability, charging stations)
• 2-3 times more specific power and 3-5 times more specific energy than competing LiC cells
• LiC cells are significantly less prone to self-ignite and burn, countering a major safety hazard of LiBs.
