About BATENE: Founded in 2022, Wendlingen-based BATENE is the result of eight years of research at the Max Planck Institute in Stuttgart into the use of ultra-fine metal fibers as a new type of current collector to improve the performance of battery cells. This research led to the development of a metal fiber fleece (BATENEfleece) that can be integrated into both the cathode and the anode of any battery. This reduces the internal resistance, increases ion mobility, allows much thicker electrodes to be produced, simplifies dry coating, and allows more potent active materials to be used. BATENEfleece technology delivers cells with higher energy density, faster charging, greater safety, and increased production efficiency due to lower reject rates.
