ALGA BIOLOGICS

ALGA BIOLOGICS is a deeptech blue biotechnology company created in november 2021 on the basis of 10 years of research carried out by our CEO, Muriel Bardor, and her team at the Université de Rouen Normandie in collaboration with IFREMER.

ALGA BIOLOGICS is developing a new bioproduction process enabling sustainable, eco-responsible production of recombinant protein including antibodies, cytokines and peptides from microalgae.

This alternative, compared with the conventional antibody production system based on mammalian cells, offers key advantages such as reduced production costs of up to -70%, homogeneous and safe production. What's more, this production method has a positive impact on the environment, since it consumes less energy, helps to decarbonize antibody production and is free of animal inputs.

ALGA BIOLOGICS' technology has been validated by the production of several antibodies whose functionality has been validated for research, diagnostics and pharmaceutics applications. In 2024, we set up our production site and validated our capacity to produce antibody batches on a 200L scale.

We now need to improve the production yield, scale the technology to 2000L and implement it in a GMP compliant environment.
