“In Africa, when an old man dies, a library burns down”, an African proverb

These words have come to nought since they were uttered by Amadou Hampâté-bâ in 1960 in his advocacy address to UNESCO for development and means of preserving the African oral tradition. Kamerlingua is an African response to this issue.

The tales and legends of each community will be collected and transcribed into its language. The history of each community will be written in its language, just like the general history of the country concerned.

Join Kamerlingua to carry out this project which will provide material for the teaching and learning of African languages and research in African studies. It will help hundreds of millions of people to reconnect with their heritage, with phenomenal growth as a result.
