The limitations of conventional computing systems to address complex but relevant computing problems due to the resources demands in terms of time, precision and energy.

 

What is our solution:

 

With the mission of solving the unsolvable, we offer cloud access to our analog quantum computers and algorithms that have been designed to target specific use-cases that are relevant for different industry verticals. Our goal is to master the nature of quantum mechanics with analog control to be able to offer a platform capable of simulating chemistry, physics and materials science, as well as to find more efficient solutions to optimisation problems present in the operational pipeline of practically all major industries. Our quantum solutions hold the promise to offer faster, more accurate and more sustainable solutions. 

 

What will be our impact on relevant industries and society:

 

Quantum computing entails an exponential increase of computational power, and thus can provide solutions to simulations that are currently out of reach, either due to limitations of time, memory or even energy. Quantum computers hold the promise to provide means to solve classical and quantum problems with a much shortened runtime, huge decreases in energy consumption, and improved result accuracies. Our solutions are specifically designed to shorten the time to market of quantum technologies, which impact almost every single industry, from pharmaceuticals with improved chemistry simulations to logistics with efficient quantum algorithms to run optimisation problems. 

 

Product description:

 

- Qilimanjaro develops quantum computing platforms, focusing its innovation on analog QASIC (quantum app-specific devices). We aim at maximising the current capabilities of quantum technology by developing quantum computers co-designed for a particular function or application, bringing together the target use-case with the design of both quantum algorithm and superconducting chip to boost the chances of getting a quantum gain now. We are currently developing the first MVP to be released in 2024. In the meantime we do algorithm co-design with several clients from the logistics, finance and energy sectors, to understand the market needs and drive our chips development.

- Qilimanjaro brings quantum computation closer to the user through its QaaS (Quantum as a Service). In 2024 we will provide cloud access to our users to run and test their algorithms in our platforms, which will include classical, and quantum analog and digital backends. To ease the interaction between the user and the device we have contributed to the development of a full-stack programming framework named Qibo.

- We offer a deployment and integration service to install quantum computers on-premise, as well as train on its operation and maintenance. We have deployed the first QC in the United Arab Emirates in 2022 and provided access to the first QC in Spain in 2023 through the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. 

Technology description:

 

Qilimanjaro co-designs full-stack quantum solutions (QASIC), accessible through our cloud service, based on superconducting flux-qubits with an innovation roadmap that relies on the development of a new generation of analog quantum devices. Our differentiated architecture proposal:

  • Analog quantum computing: to bypass the demands of digital error correction codes and offer a more natural way to simulate analog processes in chemistry, physics and materials science.
  • High superconducting qubit quality: as our top performance metric to ensure that quantum effects are present over the entire computation in order to yield true quantum advantage.
  • Versatile quantum interactions: to allow for the encoding of any problem, including pure quantum problems in the domain of physics, new materials and chemistry simulation.
  • Dense connectivity: design of packed architectures that translate into a high density of connections to be able to encode more complex optimization problems with low qubit overheads.

    Achievements:
  • 10.6 M€ accumulated client revenue:
    • Delivered the first quantum computer in the UAE
    • Developed quantum-inspired and quantum algorithms for major clients to address hard compute problems for clients in the logistics, finance and energy sectors
    • Delivered first quantum computer in Spain
