moveUP

moveUP cvba is an innovative digital health startup, with the ambition to become the leader in digital monitoring and therapies. It was founded by an orthopaedic surgeon, two engineers and a lawyer to solve the issue of variability of outcome and the incidence of chronic pain of patients after a joint replacement. 

Its technology, the moveUP Therapy, is based on AI-driven protocols, that continuously adapt the therapy of the patient based on more than 400 data points that are collected. It guides the patients in an optimal, personalised pathway before and after their hospital stay, via the moveUP app, a commercially available activity tracker and remote monitoring. 

This continuous and data-driven follow-up enables to react quickly to complications, anticipate on undesired evolution, and leads to optimal patient satisfaction. Thanks to the automation provided by the AI models, these benefits come at a much lower cost for society compared to standard of care. 

After 2 years of tests, pilots and studies, the moveUP platform and its orthopaedic therapy have obtained CE marking. The technology is now being used by 40 orthopaedic surgeons scattered over 15 hospitals in Belgium and piloted in The Netherlands, France, and the UK, where moveUP cvba ambitions to become the reference in its field.  Early 2020, it obtained reimbursment in Belgium and the Netherlands, and is in good progress to get reimbursed in France by the end of the year.
