The largest challenge facing the beekeeping industry is the loss of bee populations, due in large part to the varroa mite. In spite of the heavy reliance upon miticides for more than 40 years, the annual average rate of colony loss is 28%, illuminating the severity of the issue.

Vatorex offers an effective and chemical free solution to honey bee colony loss. The ‘Thermo Guard’ by Vatorex is a bee brood chamber that utilises thermal energy to eradicate varroa and the viruses they spread. Patented coils within the brood combs are heated to 42° C over 3-hour periods. An algorithm that detects ideal brood conditions schedules consistent repeat treatments to avoid reinfestation without damage to brood.
