100 startups to watch during 2019 in Brazil
The second edition of the "100 Startups to Watch" ranking is a sample of what Brazil has for the most promising Startups in the innovation field. These companies have the potential to transform markets, impact consumers, turn industries around. Your products and services have the ability to scale and attract the right investments for your growth. They were chosen, therefore, because they stand out among the thousands of nascent companies of the country. The ranking is the result of a partnership between the magazines "Small Business & Big Business", "Época NEGÓCIOS", from Editora Globo, and consultants Corp.vc and EloGroup.
The selection process was divided into two stages and took into account points linked to the potential of innovation, commercial traction, teams and investment capture. More than 2,200 companies participated in this phase. The assessment screen also passed through the maturity of the operation and the profile and experience of the founders. In a first screening, 1,600 companies were approved to move on to the technical evaluation phase of the ranking. In the technical funnel, the selected startups were evaluated by 80 experts from EloGroup, Corp.vc, "PEGN" and "Epoch BUSINESS". Participants received scores from 1 to 5, referring to the criteria of innovation, market, business, team and internship. A group of 200 companies was selected.
Formed by representatives of leading organizations, investment funds and public initiatives to foster the startups ecosystem, the final evaluation committee has defined the list of 100 Startups to Watch. The councilors were divided into five groups, who chose the startups in a collegiate manner. To avoid conflicts of interest, the directors did not analyze companies in which they had direct involvement. The names of the participants of this council are: Felipe Matos, creator of initiatives that already supported more than 10 thousand startups; Fernando Rieche, responsible for the BNDES Garagem operation, incentive program for the entrepreneurship of the development bank; Flávio Pripas, corporate venture officer of Redpoint eventures; Lindália Junqueira, CEO of Hacking.Rio, technology and innovation conference that houses one of the biggest hackathons in Latin America; Lucas Mendes, WeWork Director General for Brazil; Luis Felipe Franco, responsible for collaboration initiatives and partnerships between scale-ups and large companies of Endeavor Brazil; Luiz Morcelli, co-founder of Ahoy!
